Our Beliefs

1.    That the Bible is the Word of God, given by direct inspiration; and is infallible and inerrant. We believe specifically that the Authorized Version (KJV) is a correct translation of the Received Text (Textus Receptus) which has been divinely preserved from the original autographs given to the prophets and apostles by plenary inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This church does not accept or use any other translation in the English tongue. (Psalm 12:6, 7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

2.    That there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that they are equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Psalm 2:2,7; Psalm 139:1-16; Isaiah 63:10; John 4:24; 15:26; 16:7; James 1:17)

3.    That the Lord Jesus Christ is the uniquely begotten Son of God, and fully man; that He was virgin-born, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died and was buried; that He was resurrected, ascended to the Father bodily and will return for His saints before He comes to judge the world and rule the world, and that Christ died for the sins of the world, and that His blood on Calvary has paid the full price for mankind's redemption and has eternal power to cleanse from all sin and save from Hell.(Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 24:29-31; Luke 1:31-35; John 1:1,2; Romans 9:15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:14,15; Philippians 2:6-8; Revelation 3:10)

4.    That the Holy Spirit is a Person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement; and that He is the supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers at salvation, indwelling them, and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:13; Ephesians 5:18; 1 John 2:20,27)

5.    That man was created in the image and after the likeness of God, but he, by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy estate. The resulting consequences are that all men are now sinners by nature, choice and action; and are therefore under the just condemnation of God, without excuse or defence. Man, by redemption, becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit, enabled to live a holy life consistent with the desire of God for man. (Genesis 1:26, 3:6; Romans 5:12, 1 Corinthians 6:19; 1 Peter 1:16)

6.    That the salvation of sinners is accomplished by God's grace alone through faith alone and that Jesus is the only way of salvation. We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free by the Gospel and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the Gospel. The true possession of salvation is evidenced by a voluntary obedience to the Word of God through fruits of repentance, faith and newness of life. (Acts 20:2-0, 21; John 3:16-18; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8, 9)

7.    That Satan is a person and that the lake of Fire is a literal place of eternal conscious punishment for all unsaved. (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:14; Revelation 20:7, 11-15)

8.    That a New Testament church is a local organized body of baptized believers practicing Scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19,20; 1 Corinthians 5:4; Ephesians 4:11-16; 5:23,24; Hebrews 10:25)

9.    That all the redeemed, that is those who are "born-again," are kept by God's power, and are secure in Christ for eternity. (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:1,38,39; 1 Corinthians 1:4-8; 1 Peter 1:5)

10.    That it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. (Romans 13:13,14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)

11.    That sanctification is God's will for all believers and that it involves the believer's separation from the world, his cleansing in life, and complete dedication to Christ in service; but not the eradication of the Adamic nature. That all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord; and, that separation from all religious apostasy, worldly practices and associations is commanded by God, including all forms of immorality and homosexuality. (Romans 12:1,2; 14:13; 2 Corinthians 5:19,20; 2 Timothy 3:1-5: 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11)

12.    That water baptism by immersion following conversion is a symbolic ordinance setting forth the death, burial and resurrection of Christ; and the believer's union with Him in death and resurrection. That baptism is a Scriptural ordinance of the church requiring immersion of believers only, to be administered by the New Testament local church. (Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 2:38; 10:47; 16:33)

13.    That the Lord's Supper is a Scriptural ordinance of the local church to be partaken of by the local church membership. (1 Corinthians 11:23-34)

14.    That there is a physical resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (1 Corinthians 15:51-57; 2 Corinthians 5:8; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Revelation 20:11-15)

15.    That there will be a pre-millennial, pre-tribulation rapture of the saints. (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Titus 2:13; Revelation 3:10)

16.    That the church is called to glorify God through the preaching and the teaching of the whole Word of God, the Bible. Here, the church is also exhorted to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 3), and accordingly, we take the following positions:

Neo-Orthodoxy - This theological persuasion is a futile attempt to reconcile, "the higher scientific Biblical criticism with the true Biblical interpretation." Such an appeal to Biblical revelation is based on half-truths and as such is false and deceptive. We utterly reject this method and position.

Neo-Evangelicalism - This movement, while claiming to be fundamental in theology, has actually compromised the underlying principles of the Christian Faith. It questions inspiration and literal interpretation; it accepts liberals as Christians, takes a new attitude toward the ecumenical movement, promotes ecumenical evangelism, denies both ethical and ecclesiastical separation, restructures eschatology and over stresses the social aspects of the Gospel. We hold this stand to be unscriptural.
Ecumenical Movement - The attempt to unite the different faiths today on the basis of the least common denominator of doctrine is a betrayal of the unity of believers based upon sound doctrine of the Bible and historic Christian Faith. Its dialogue with other religions is dialectical. Its method of operation is subversive and shows a tendency to totalitarianism. Its' concept of an ecclesiastical kingdom is not supported in Scripture. We reject all cooperation with this movement.

Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) - We believe that worshipful music must be centred on Jesus Christ and what He accomplished for mankind, and should be objective and didactic in nature. We reject new styles of music that would tend to focus on self or declared contemporary manifestations of the Holy Spirit or sung in a repetitious manner. We believe that rock style music is music of the world and the natural musical expression of rebellion. We further believe that the use of this style of music opens doors to both Neo-evangelicalism and Charismaticism, all of which detracts from the polity, practice and doctrine of historic Baptist Churches.
